Planning a Long Term Assignment
If you're like me, then you have trouble deciding when to get work done. I typically wait for a good idea to come around and draft it out. I then expand on that idea early. Then I have trouble. I wait too long to actually type out and complete the assignment because I have more urgent work, forget, or choose not to do it. I've learned that it's always important to get as much work done as possible in allotted school time, so you can stop worrying about the project at home and still have time to do your other homework. Some Additional strategies for completing a long-term assignment are: planning out when, how, and where you are going to be able to work and for how long, as well as, keeping track of time to make sure the project is not late. Additionally, try to avoid "cramming" (doing the whole project the night before). Doing this will result in sloppy, poor quality, and overall minimal effort work which is equivalent to a bad grade. Follow these basic guidelines and your project will be easy!
Procrastination Prevention
Procrastination is a common problem for me. I've realized that when you are working you are bored, so your brain makes excuses to avoid the work you need done and you will focus on stuff you would rather be doing. To stop this work-threatening problem from occurring, follow these 5 steps:
1- Move to a new environment. Being around a place with multiple distractions can obviously lower the amount of work you complete and how well you do. Try to be as secluded and far away from these distractions as possible.
2- Talk to somebody. If one of your friends is doing work and you should be too, then talk to them. Doing this will likely get you into a working mood as opposed to thinking about what you want to do.
3- Make deadlines. Deadlines help you finish your goals on time and make for less work in the future. Beware! If you don't keep up with your deadlines the whole plan will be backed up with work that was supposed to already be completed.
4- State your goals. If you know your goals will be fast to achieve, then do them. The same concept goes for hard goals, the longer you ignore them, the harder they'll be in the future and the more stressed you will become.
5- Take action. Only you can force yourself to focus and do your work, so ignore loud people and distractions and just get it done!

Favourite Project
Out of the many fun and challenging projects we did this year, I found this one (Weebly) to be my favourite. I will explain why by describing my feelings toward the other projects first. The game board project I chose to do was easy and fun, but I didn't feel enough writing was required by the rubric to make somebody fully understand enough about the book, nevertheless it was a creative project. As for the Recipe card, it was the most fun and creative out of the three but was challenging for me because I'm not all that creative when it comes to food, and I couldn't do the extra-credit make your food part (although that was fun and unique). I liked the Weebly project the best because I found it was easier to write a bunch about a book I truly enjoy and get to work on the computer extensively which are two perfect components of a good project for me. I've also always been interested in making my own website.
